The illiterate of the 21st Century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn. Connak Foundation uses technology as a tool to strengthen the capacities of youths and women yearly by teaching them with technical skills that enables them to start a business or get a good paying job within the 21st Century workplace. This arm of the foundation has empowered over 150 youths with startup kits (Laptops & Printers) in Abia state, Nigeria and 60% of these empowered youths have job employments or running ICT ventures.
Technology programs include:
(1) Programming and Coding
(2) Computer Hardware Repairs
The Foundation's vision for the ICT training program is in
line with United Nation's ninth sustainable development
goal. The youths, who hitherto were unemployable
without the required technical skills, are trained on how to
use information and communication technology as a tool
to strengthen their capacities and become employable
within 21st century workplace, or start a business venture
that can facilitate domestic technology development.
The ICT training is a nine-month continuous program with course content spanning basic and advanced Microsoft office packages, programming and coding as well as Computer hardware development & repairs. The training program, which commenced in 2017, has graduated and empowered 224 youths with brand new laptops and printers as start-up kits. 60% of the graduands from our ICT Training program are now gainfully employed while others are business owners running ICT ventures that have also employed other youths.
